A family, not a venue. A movement, not a meeting.
Horizon is a home church in San Marcos rooted in Scripture and shaped by the church described in Acts. Below is who we are, what we believe, where we're headed, and the values we live by.

A home church on mission together.
Horizon Church is a home-based body of believers in San Marcos, Texas. We gather every Sunday to worship, hear the Word taught, break bread, and pray — and we spend the rest of the week living life together in smaller groups. We're not a program to attend; we're a family to belong to.
Whether you've followed Jesus for decades, are asking questions for the first time, or haven't been to church in years — you are welcome here, exactly as you are.
The church, in its simplest and most biblical form.
A house church is exactly what it sounds like: the church, meeting in a home. In the New Testament, that wasn't a creative alternative — it was the norm. Before there were church buildings, believers gathered in houses. They met in homes to devote themselves to the apostles' teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer (Acts 2:42, 46). Paul greeted "the church in their house" (Romans 16:5), and the Gospel spread from living rooms and dining tables across the Roman world.
Everything the Bible calls the church to be happens here. We worship. We open God's Word and teach it plainly. We break bread and pray together. We baptize new believers. We give to meet real needs. We disciple, encourage, and sharpen one another. And we go out to make disciples of our own — at home, at work, at school, and across the nations.
A house church is not a lesser version of church. It's not a Bible study with a church name attached. It's the full church — just without the building.
That simplicity is part of the gift. With no stage, no spectacle, and no crowd to disappear into, everyone is known, everyone has a part, and everyone contributes rather than consumes. It feels less like attending an event and more like what it actually is: a family.
Meeting in a home isn't the point — being the church the way the first believers were is the point. The home is simply where it happens.
The Bible is our authority. Jesus is our foundation.

- Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man.John 1:1;14, Colossians 2:9
- The Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God.2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21
- God exists as one in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14
- Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone.John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-9
- The mission of the Church is to make disciples and share the Gospel.Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8
- We hold to the historic biblical view of marriage and family.Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31-33
- Following salvation, believers are called to baptism and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.Acts 2:38, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 8:14-17, Acts 1:8
Statement of Faith
Horizon Church proclaims the Nicene Creed as our statement of faith. This creed dates back to the fourth century, when Christians gathered to compose this definitive statement of belief. For over sixteen hundred years, the Nicene Creed has united Christians globally as a confession of worship that forms us as the people of God. It is far more than an intellectual checklist of doctrine; it is a living prayer that draws us together into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. His kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
*"Catholic" means universal — the worldwide Church across all times and traditions, not the modern Roman Catholic Church.
To be the Church of Acts in San Marcos, Kyle and beyond.
We're praying for — and working toward — a community of believers who are devoted to Scripture, deeply connected to one another, generous with what we have, and actively making disciples where God has placed us.
Ordinary people. Extraordinary God. A city changed one home, one group, one disciple at a time.
We don't own people.
We partner with God to equip and send them.
At Horizon Church, we welcome people. We love people. We help people heal. We disciple people. We equip people. We build together. And when God says go, we send people.
We hold to an open view of church membership. We believe God brings people into our lives and into this church for a purpose—and sometimes, in His timing, He sends them out for a purpose too.
God didn't call us simply to join a church. He called us to help build His Church.
Throughout the book of Acts and the New Testament, the Church was constantly in motion. Believers were scattered by persecution, moved by necessity, drawn by curiosity, and, at times, specifically called and sent by the Holy Spirit. Wherever they went, they carried the Gospel with them.
Acts 11 tells us that unnamed believers, scattered because of persecution, traveled to Antioch and began sharing Jesus with people who had not previously been included. God was with them. He empowered them; people came to Christ, and a new community of believers was established.
When the church in Jerusalem heard what was happening, they sent Barnabas. When he arrived and saw the evidence of God's grace, he celebrated what God was doing and encouraged the believers to remain faithful to the Lord. Barnabas then found Saul and brought him to Antioch, where together they spent a year teaching and strengthening the church.
Then, in Acts 13, the Holy Spirit spoke to that same community:
"Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
The church fasted. They prayed. They laid hands on them.
And then they sent them out.
They didn't hold tightly to the people God had given them. They remained sensitive to what the Holy Spirit was doing.
That picture shapes how we think about people at Horizon.
A Hospital, Not a Retirement Home
We believe the Church was never meant to function like a spiritual retirement home. It was meant to function more like a hospital.
A retirement-home mentality asks, "How can the church take care of me?"
A hospital mentality asks, "How can I become healthy so I can get back to the work God has called me to?"
Jesus said, "Healthy people don't need a doctor—sick people do" (Mark 2:17).
Jesus welcomed the broken, the hurting, the rejected, and the spiritually sick. He met people where they were—but He loved them too much to leave them there.
We believe His Church should do the same.
Come wounded. Come tired. Come confused. Come needing help.
There are seasons when every one of us needs to be carried, cared for, prayed over, restored, and strengthened by the Body of Christ.
But hospitals were never designed to keep healthy people in hospital beds forever.
Healing has a purpose.
We aren't restored merely so we can become comfortable. We are restored so we can become participants in what God is doing.
We are discipled so we can disciple others.
We are encouraged so we can encourage others.
We are served so we can learn to serve.
We are equipped so we can step into the work God has prepared for us.
That is the picture we see throughout Acts: people came, people were transformed, people were equipped, people chose to share the load, and people were sent.
Some were sent across the street.
Some were sent across cultures.
Some were sent to other cities and nations.
And some stayed, planted roots, and faithfully helped build the local church that sent others.
The destination wasn't always somewhere else.
The point was availability and obedience to God.
We Have to Be Interruptible
We cannot become a church filled with spectators waiting to be served. We work to be a people continually asking the Holy Spirit:
"What are You doing, and how can we be part of it?"
We don't simply want to fill a church with already-churched people. We want to pursue the lost, the broken, the hurting, the confused, the marginalized, and the rejected.
We strive to be a people who are never too busy to be interrupted by the Holy Spirit— people who live attentive to His leading and are willing to stop, love, listen, speak, serve, share our story, and live our testimony wherever He places us.
Come Build With Us
So when we talk about belonging at Horizon, we're talking about more than having your name on a membership roll.
We're inviting you to build with us.
- Build relationships.
- Build community.
- Build up other believers.
- Serve people.
- Discover and use your gifts.
- Live out the Gospel in your home, workplace, neighborhood, and wherever God sends you.
For some, that may mean planting deep roots at Horizon and helping build this local church for decades. For others, God may eventually call them to another city, another ministry, another church, or another mission field.
When He does, we don't want to hold tightly to what belongs to Him.
We want to pray, bless, and send.
Because ultimately, Horizon isn't our church. It's Jesus' Church. And the people in it belong to Him.
So while God has you here, let's faithfully build His Church together.
Come to be healed. Stay to be equipped. Build while you're here. And when God says go, we send.
God didn't call you simply to join a church. He called you to help build His Church. - Pastor David Campos Sr.

Generosity in action
Following the example of the early church, we believe generosity is more than giving—it is caring for one another and participating in God's mission. Of every contribution we receive, 10% is dedicated to benevolence and missions — caring for people here and sending the Gospel abroad.
Benevolence is our local mission. It enables us to meet practical needs within our church and community by providing assistance such as groceries, utility payments, gift cards, and emergency support. We believe God has called us to love the people He has placed around us every day.
Missions is our global mission. We prayerfully and financially support trusted missionaries and ministries who are taking the Gospel to places and people we cannot reach ourselves. Together, we seek to make disciples—across the street and around the world.
Every gift becomes an opportunity to demonstrate Christ's love and participate in His mission, both here and to the ends of the earth.
